Evanescence currently consists of Amy Lee (Vocals, Piano), Terry Balsamo (Guitar) and Tim McCord (Bass).

Evanescence formed in Arkansas in 1998 when Amy Lee and former guitarist Ben Moody (who would later write music for Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson) met at a church youth camp. They released their first album Fallen in 2003. Their debut single Bring me to Life was from the Daredevil film and was a massive hit. It featured guest vocals by Paul McCoy from 12 Stones. Singles Going Under and My Immortal were also released from the album.
In 2006 the band released The Door Open. The first single off the album was Call me when you’re sober.
The band are famous for two things, neither of them very positive. Firstly they are well reputed for going through several musicians - Amy Lee is the only original member of the band. Secondly they are seen as a Christian band - something which Amy Lee never wanted to be seen as. In 2003 after an interview where Amy Lee made comments about Christianity, many Christian record stores took their album off the shelves.
